Shopping at Supermarkets to Make-believe Mini Markets

If you have read any of my previous blogs you will know how important role play is in your child's development.

Love it or hate it shopping is an important part of our daily lives and it requires many skill sets - especially tolerance!!!! Visiting Coffee shops, cafes and Ice Cream stands are always pleasurable and fun. Children can play together acting out different roles or a child, alone, can spend hours "sorting" their shop, restocking, tidying and displaying.

A very important factor is the introduction of "cash" and this teaches children crucial, quick mental maths which will help them enormously in their future development. And what better way to learn about weights and measurements.

The benefits of imaginative play in different scenarios and what they learn are so important to your child's development, below are just a few examples of this.

  • Basic maths– numbers, counting, simple addition.

  • Life skills– process of shopping, what a bar code is, how to use a card/money.

  • Vocabulary– food names etc

And essentially:

  • Manners– pleases, thank yous, queuing etc.

If you are looking to recreate your own little setup at home, to build your child's communication and development skills then here is some inspiration you may enjoy

Feel free to drop me, Hannah, a Whatsapp directly on 0564429917 and share your designs for a bespoke quote. I can make it in any size, colour, shape and colour.

My children specifically love our own Market Place that I have had made at home. It has been in use since they were around 2, now nearly 5 years old it is still getting daily use! So definitely a great investment! And painted all in white with a chic modern design and finish I also like it in our home :) Bonus!
